Lady Diana Spencer became Princess Diana of Wales in June of 1981. She was one of the most cherished members of the British royal family during her lifetime. Diana loved children and children loved her. Before marrying Prince Charles she worked as an assistant in Kindergarten. Quickly after marrying she became known as the “people’s princess.” She championed many causes including the arts, children’s issues, and AIDS patients. Her death was a worldwide tragedy.
